Qualia is an AI-powered communication platform that helps teams, institutions, and developers communicate with greater clarity, appropriateness, and impact. Our products include the Qualia application, the Recipient Intelligence API, and the Microsoft Outlook Add-In (together, the "Services").
By accessing or using the Services, you agree to the following terms:
1. Use of the Service
Qualia provides AI-generated suggestions, draft responses, and recipient intelligence outputs based on content you provide.
You agree that:
- You are responsible for reviewing and editing all AI-generated drafts before sending.
- You will not use the Services for unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or abusive purposes.
- You will comply with all applicable laws and any organizational or institutional policies that apply to you.
- You have the necessary rights and permissions for any content you submit to the Services.
Qualia does not send communications automatically without your action.
2. AI-Generated Content
The Services use artificial intelligence to generate content.
You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated responses may contain inaccuracies.
- Qualia does not guarantee correctness, completeness, or suitability of generated outputs.
- You are solely responsible for any communication sent using the Services.
3. Developer & API Terms
If you register for and use the Recipient Intelligence API, the following additional terms apply:
- You are responsible for keeping your API keys confidential and secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your keys.
- You must not exceed published rate limits or attempt to circumvent usage quotas, credit limits, or access controls.
- You must not use the API to build a competing product, or to resell, sublicense, or redistribute the API or its outputs except as expressly permitted.
- You must not submit content you are not authorized to process, and you must comply with applicable data protection laws for any personal data you send.
- We may suspend or revoke API access for misuse, abuse, non-payment, or violation of these terms.
4. Microsoft Outlook Add-In
The Qualia Outlook Add-In reads mailbox context from the active email (using the Mail.Read permission you grant) solely to generate the suggestions you request. By installing and using the Add-In, you confirm that you are authorized to use it with your mailbox and that your use complies with your organization's policies and Microsoft's terms.
5. Data Usage
Qualia processes the content you submit solely to provide the Services.
- We do not sell user data.
- We do not share personal data with third parties for advertising purposes.
- We do not use your content to train public AI models.

6. Institutional Accounts & Compliance
Where the Services are provided to an organization or institution under a separate agreement or data processing addendum ("DPA"), that agreement governs to the extent it conflicts with these terms for those accounts.
Education-specific obligations, including those under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), apply only when the Services are provided under an institutional agreement or DPA that establishes them. Developers and individual users are not subject to FERPA obligations under these terms.
7. Account & Access
Access to the Services may require authentication (for example, via Google or another supported identity provider) or registration for a developer account.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your account and credentials
- Keeping your API keys confidential
- Ensuring your access complies with any organizational or institutional policies that apply to you
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access if the Services are misused.
8. Beta Status
Some features of the Services may be provided as beta.
You acknowledge that:
- Features may change
- Performance may vary
- Certain functionality may be modified or removed at any time
We may update the Services without prior notice.
9. Intellectual Property
All software, branding, and content associated with Qualia are the property of Qualia.
You may not:
- Reverse engineer the Services or the API
- Copy or redistribute the software
- Use Qualia branding without permission
10. Limitation of Liability
The Services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated outputs
You assume full responsibility for communications sent using the Services.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time.
Continued use of the Services after changes indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
